Benenden School (United Kingdom)

A unique edition of Monopoly based on one of the country's leading girls boarding schools has been developed by two pupils. The popular board game features key landmarks around the £34,000-a-year Benenden School in Benenden, Kent, but with its own twist. Gone are the traditional streets such as the Strand, Whitechapel and Mayfair, utilities companies or the jail. Instead players can buy iconic locations around the school founded in 1923 and set in 240 acres such as the Science Centre, Cloisters or the new All-Weather Pitch.

The traditional railway stations have been replaced by more familiar forms of transport around Benenden, including scooters and the school bus. And instead of Community Chest and Chance cards, you pick up a Pink Slip or a Blue Slip, like the school's reward and sanctions system, and suffer or enjoy the consequences - be it detention or a present in Prayers for your birthday. Isabella Cassidy and Tele Mobereola said the new version of the popular board game was a way of marking their time at Sixth Form before they left after their A Levels.

According to the pair, the trickiest thing was deciding in which order to put the six Lower School Houses at the girls' boarding school - and in the end they put them in alphabetical order to avoid controversy. Proceeds from its sale will be split between two causes; the future development of the school and the National Kidney Foundation.
