Historisch Ijsselstein
(Netherlands)

IJsselstein is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. IJsselstein received city rights in 1331. IJsselstein owes its name to the river Hollandse IJssel which flows through the city.

The well-known streets such as Kalverstraat in Amsterdam (becomes Utrechtsestraat), Coolsingel in Rotterdam (becomes Kerkstraat) and Vreeburg in Utrecht (becomes Paardenlaan) are then replaced by IJsselstein street names known throughout the region.
