The 1st Bundesliga is the top division of football in Germany and has existed in its current form since the 1963/1964 season. 18 teams play in the 1st Bundesliga.
The most successful club in the history of the Bundesliga is FC Bayern Munich: From the start of the Bundesliga to the 2019/2020 season, the team has scored a total of 3,769 points, making it the front runner in the all-time league table of the first Bundesliga.
In addition to FC Bayern Munich, the first division club Borussia Dortmund has a particularly large fan base. Hamburger SV and FC St. Pauli were the most popular teams in the 2nd Bundesliga.
