San Antonio, TX
(United States of America)
Monopoly San Antonio Edition is now available, with squares for Hemisfair, the River Walk, Market Square and other Alamo City sites. Players hoping to see more puro San Antonio staples such as Big Red and barbacoa for game pieces or a game board cruise down SW Military Drive may be disappointed, though the game was designed with locals in mind.
From the word Go, the San Antonio game kicks off with a veritable mission mile featuring Missions Concepción, Espada, San José and San Juan, along with San Fernando Cathedral. Then after just visiting Jail, you’re in for a row with squares that include the San Antonio Museum of Art and Witte Museum, as well as Hemisfair and the San Antonio Zoo.
Past the Free Parking bend, you’ll find picturesque blocks that include the Historic Market Square, Japanese Tea Garden and Spanish Governor’s Palace, ending with a logo for Fiesta San Antonio.
The final row on the San Antonio board spotlights a trio of area universities: the University of Texas at San Antonio, University of the Incarnate Word and Texas A&M University San Antonio. Then it’s off to the River Walk and finally the Alamo before passing Go to start the property grabbing enterprise all over again.
The centre of the board features a postcardlike collage of popular San Antonio landmarks, including the Tower of the Americas and some of the other sites in the game, with Mr. Monopoly practically popping out of the Alamo to invite you to play.
The San Antonio Monopoly board also includes a few businesses, with a square each for Black Rifle Coffee Co. and Dignowity Meats, plus two squares for Valero. Black Rifle Coffee also is pictured in the centre of the board.
