The Kontinental Hockey League, formed in 2008, is one of Europe's elite hockey leagues. The KHL consists of 23 teams divided into two conferences, East and West, and is divided into four divisions named after legendary players and coaches: Arkady Chernyshev, Anatoly Tarasov, Valeri Kharlamov, and Vsevolod Bobrov.

Each team's main goal is the Gagarin Cup, a trophy that embodies the spirit of championship play and the will to win.
