This long box has since 1985 the same design as in many other countries, i.e. the colourful lid shows the red "Monopoly bar with Uncle Pennybags" on top of the fourth side of the game board, including the dice showing always the figures 3 and 5.
The streets and stations are those of the English "Waddingtons board", however Parker Brothers' influence becomes more important, what is shown by:
| The Waddingtons engines are not coloured green. |
| The Community Chest fields show the blue treasure chest of Parker Brothers. |
| The Super Tax (instead of Luxury Tax) field however does not have the gold ring of Parker Brothers. |
| The pink Chance and blue Community Chest cards have the recurring "loco - Uncle Pennybags - loco" pattern on the back, caracteristic for Parker Brothers. |
| The white tyres of the car on Free Parking point to the Parker Brothers influence. |
The back side of the solid gameboard is light blue, printed in white with the Parker swirl and in huge characters Parker Brothers. The inner box has a dark blue plastic insert with 14 holes in all for the banknotes and equipment.
| The ten metal tokens are the usual: car, boat, wheelbarrow, thimble, shoe, hat, dog, cannon, iron and rider on a horse. |
| The green houses (with roof tiles) of plastic have but a tiny excentric chimney; the hotels of red plastic have a more sound chimney in the middle of the roof with tiles. |
| The banknotes (with legend "Copyright 1935 by Parker Brothers Inc.") are printed on white paper in the denominations: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500. It is remarkable that all numbers having a white line in mid-colour. Both dice are white with black pips. |
| The Rules are completed with an illustrated statement of "The most frequent asked Questions" and "Monopoly Facts". |
| On the bottom side of the box is a black/white picture of the board with all its attributes. |
| The rim of the box says the set is "Packaged in Australia" but on the board it says "Made in Australia". |

This sets immediately attracts attention because of its yellow lid and the green heading Australian edition. (Yellow should be gold because Australia's colours are green and gold.)
This version is a limited edition and is thought to be 10,000 copies.
| The game board's back is light blue and sloping over it's centre field is Monopoly in closed, black characters in a black frame. The innerbox is a dark blue, plastic insert with 2 x 7 holes for the banknotes and attributes. On the bottom of the box is a large black/white picture of the game board, surrounded by banknotes and property deeds. |
| The mortgage value of "Australian Post" is as it ought to be $75 so half the purchase price. (This appeared to go wrong a few times in 1996.) |
| The Chance and Community Chest cards are also in the colours green and yellow. |
| The banknotes (with legend "Copyright 1935 by Parker Brothers Inc.") are printed on white paper in the denominations: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500. All numbers have a white line in mid-colour. |
| There are eleven tokens and include the Koala Bear. |

Between the red Monopoly bar and the notation "Australian edition" on the midfield of the game board it says "© 1935, 1996 Hasbro International Inc.". The board's back is blue again, however without the mention of Parker Brothers as with the set of 1985. In the inner box is but a small plastic insert with holes for seven banknotes. The rest is filled up with a blue cardboard insert on which again the most frequently asked questions are mentioned. This insert shows the number "0009-B". This means it is the same insert as the one used in this period for the "Standard editions, Ref. No. 0009" in America as well.
Features of this edition are:

| Highly remarkable is the fact that the mortgage value of "Australian Post" is the same as it's purchase price, so $150. |
| The rent on Bourke Street for unbuilt property is $24 now. |
| The back side of the white Chance and Community Chest cards respectively show a red and blue treasure chest within a frame. |
| The banknotes got a more modern look and are printed on coloured paper. There is no mention whatsoever of copyright and on top of the large number in the circle of the note is "Monopoly® brand". |
| The colours of the various denominations are resp.: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500. |
| The houses are dark green, the hotels dark red, they don't have roof tiles and the chimney is in the middle of the roof. |
| The 11th token is of coarse the Koala Bear. |
| The dice are black with white pips. |
| On the rim of the lid it says "Made in USA" and distributed in Australia by Hasbro - Australia Ltd. |

It was discovered in her next shown long box edition the mortgage value of to be the same as it's purchase price, so $150. This is also the case with the other edition of 1996, however not with earlier nor later versions of the Australian edition. This error remained limited to this year only.
Important differences compared with variant are however:
| The backside of the game is red. |
| The fold of the board runs parallel to the first side. |
| Inside the innerbox is a white, plastic insert in one piece with twelve holes for the seven banknotes and attributes. |
| The banknotes are colour printed on white paper and are: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500. |
| The Rules are printed on orange paper. |

Differences between the London-gameboard of 1985 and this edition are:

| Under that is only "©1935, 1996 Hasbro International Inc. UZ". (See the similarity with the Australian edition made in America) |
| The Waddington locomotives are now in green as well. |
Similarities to the Australian edition of 1996 are:
| The banknotes are the same. |
| The plastic tray insert as well as the cardboard insert are the same. |
