Monopoly Deluxe

Without Ref. Nr.

Publisher: John Waddington Ltd.

Dimensions of the box: 27.0 x 51.5 cm

On the mahagony coloured lid is the game board printed in gold in the field of 2 squares, as we know it from the European sets made in France since 1961. Also gold printed is a logo of "2 engines with Uncle Pennybags&q] with under it the £ sign. Further the cover already gives away that the box contains a carousel to store the property cards of the banker conveniently.

The inner box contains 2 trays of black plastic: 1 for the banknotes and 1 for the carousel, the 6 (gold) tokens, the houses and hotels, the cards and the dice. At the bottom of the inner box are plain pictures of the carousel, tokens and tray for the bank notes.

The yellow Chance and pink Community Chest cards are, as usual, not illustrated.

The plastic houses are green and the hotels are red. Both have all-sided overhanging roofs and a chimney.

The banknotes are of thin paper the back of it being printed with the former mentioned logo with Uncle Pennybags.

The game was "Made in Great Britain".

Monopoly Deluxe - Brown Leatherette Case

With Registered Trade Mark

Publisher: John Waddington Ltd.

Dimensions of the box: 29.8 x 54.6 x 4.4 cm

Considering the real luxury finish of this Deluxe set we can assume this issue is in honour of the 40th anniversary. The last copyright year mentioned in the centre of the game board is however still 1961. The board's back is of brown leather.

Inside the case are 2 inserts again, but this time of light brown plastic: 1 for the banknotes and 1 for the carousel, the 6 (gold) tokens, the houses and hotels, the cards and the dice. The holes for the houses and hotels are covered by a transparent lid. Like in the editions of other countries of this era the wooden houses and hotels are composed of a white base and a resp. green and red roof.

The rent of the unbuilt Piccadilly is still the same as of both other streets, only £22. The mortgage side of the property deeds is red.

The yellow Chance and pink Community Chest cards are, as usual, not ïllustrated. All cards have, the property deeds as well, show a gold rim and are plasticised. There are 2 spare cards.

The banknotes are printed in black on thin, coloured paper, the back side of which is printed with the "Uncle Pennybags between 2 engines and £ sign" logo. The denominations are resp.: 1 - 5 - 10 - 20 - 50 - 100 and 500.

Both dice are white with black pips.

The game was "Made in Great Britain".
