The Isle of Arran is one of Scotland's most easily accessible islands, just an hour from the Ayrshire coast, western Scotland. Its unique geography, mountainous terrain and fascinating beaches have long since attracted visitors from around the world. The tourism industry on Arran is of critical importance to its economic survival. What is so significant about Arran (and of vital importance to residents as well as tourists) is its ability to maintain an atmosphere of peace, escapism and adventure, all amid breath-taking scenery and diverse wildlife. The island is only 200 square miles in size and you can drive around it in just under two hours. In doing so, you'll see wild red deer, seals and perhaps golden eagles and otters. You'll witness farmlands, sandy beaches, steep mountain ridges and picturesque villages which all have fascinating histories. You'll be able to walk through conifer forests which could lead you to isolated beaches with rock pools and a huge array of birdlife.
Local businesses, visitor attractions and the vast majority of people who live here have quickly identified the relevance of all this natural beauty. It's no wonder, therefore, that the island is well supported year-round with luxury hotels, to simple B & B's, a total of seven golf courses, and has some of the most significant visitor attractions in Ayrshire, let alone Scotland
