Rugby League began in 1895 as the "Northern Union" in my home town, Huddersfield (UK), when clubs in the north of England broke away from the RFU. The area was a rugby powerhouse but the clubs wanted to compensate their working-class players for time away from work for rugby tours and injuries. In the following decade more changes happened setting Rugby League away from Rugby Union including reducing the teams from 15 to 13 players and a new play-the-ball rule.
Meanwhile in Australia, (NSW and Qld) and New Zealand, rugby was controlled by the rugby union bodies affiliated with the English RFU but woth the working-class players and supporters in Sydney and Brisbane being disheartened by the attitude of the authorities Rugy Union champion Daily Messenger secretly signed to the new Rugby League competition in 1907. Rugby League then grew from strength to strength year on year.
All 16 NRL clubs, as well as the NRL All Stars and Indigenous All Stars teams are included with the Premiership Trophy appropriately in the board’s most exclusive and coveted “Mayfair” site. The game even includes a unique NRL Premiership Trophy replica playing piece. Race around the board to be the first to own your favourite team and follow the steps from Minor Premiers, Finals, Grand Finalists all the way to NRL Premiers. NRL MONOPOLY is the authentic NRL experience coupled with the best loved board game of all time.
