Loved the world over, Monopoly has captured the hearts and minds of generations of armchair entrepreneurs and the famous streets and landmarks of the Monopoly board have been renamed this year as Harrow School stars on the latest official version of the game. People living in Harrow, Old Harrovians, boys, parents and friends of the School are now able to buy their favourite building on the Hill, or get a mortgage on Old Schools as the classic family game combines with the venerable and beloved landmarks of Harrow School.
The first, and potentially most controversial, decision was which boarding houses should go on which squares. All the boarding houses (including the newly opened Lyon's House) are included, valued by date of construction, with the oldest being the highest value. The remaining properties are made up of buildings linked to the arts (the Ryan Theatre, Music Schools), buildings linked to food (the Shepherd Churchill Hall) and the most historic parts of the School (Old Schools being the Mayfair of Harrow Monopoly). Stations have become School Grounds, while services such as Water & Electricity have become Chapel and the Vaughan Library.
Harrow pupils got a chance to become involved with the creation of the Community Chest and Chance cards. Boys made suggestions about the traditions and quirks of Harrow which feature on both sets of cards. Players can expect to be put on Custos Report for not wearing their straw hat and pay £50!
The properties are in sections and are as follows:
Brown (Food) - Shepherd Churchill, Hill Cafe
Light Blue (Arts Buildings) - Ryan Theatre, Art Schools, Music Schools
Pink (Boarding Houses) - Lyon's, Elmfield, Newlands
Orange (Boarding Houses) - The Knoll, Bradbys, Rendalls

Yellow (Boarding Houses) - Druries, Moretons, The Head Master's

Stations (School Grounds) - Philathletic Ground, The School Farm, Ducker Fields, Golf Course
