In 1824, the city of Brisbane was chosen as a place for secondary offenders from the Sydney Colony, but was soon abandoned and opened to free settlement in 1842. Named in honour of Scotsman Sir Thomas Brisbane, the city of Brisbane is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Australia.

Today, Brisbane is the largest, most cosmopolitan city in Queensland and has earned a reputation for offering a fantastic lifestyle. With great food and wine, excellent shopping and a thriving nightlife, it’s no wonder this new world city is now home to over 2.3 million people and welcomes over 7 million visitors each year.

Take a stroll across Story Bridge and enjoy the beautiful sites of Brisbane city and the river below before heading to South Bank for a quick swim and a spot of lunch in the entertainment precinct. See Brisbane from a whole different angle and adventure down to Riverlike to kayak along the river or abseil down the cliffs. Spend the afternoon with your family at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, cuddling koalas and feeding kangaroos, before soaking up the electric atmosphere of a rugby game at Suncorp Stadium!

These are just some of the many iconic Brisbane landmarks which have been immortalised in the Brisbane edition of MONOPOLY and now you can own them all!
