CELEBRATE THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE FAMILY BOARD GAME BRAND’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY BY CLAIMING THE MONOPOLY BANK

FANS of the boardgame MONOPOLY now have the chance to win the famous MONOPOLY bank… in pounds sterling.

To celebrate the world’s favourite boardgame turning 75 years young, game manufacturers Hasbro are turning the MONOPOLY bank in to real money in over ten countries, for ten lucky winners.

One lucky UK winner will be awarded £20,580 later this year – a dream come true, because according to a recent survey conducted by Hasbro, over half of us Brits have wished the bank was real.

And its not surprising, given the British summer, that most of us (57%) would spend the money on a jet set lifestyle – taking a luxury holiday to relax and enjoy some well-earned sun!

But there are some startling differences across the world as to how we would spend the bank if it were real. Homebodies France (76%) and Germany (70%) claimed the money would go on their families, whilst China (68%) and Mexico (74%) would plough the funds in to a lucrative business opportunity.

Telling of tough times, huge numbers of those taking part in Australia and the US said that they would use the money to pay off their debts, with 70% and 69% respectively wanting to start afresh.

So now all those who’ve made their MONOPOLY millions by buying and selling properties and paying and collecting rent with play money, can make the dream a reality and win the bank.

For 75 days this summer, MONOPOLY is asking its fans to describe what they would do if the money in their MONOPOLY game -- which totals £20,580 -- were turned into real money. Fans can visit www.MONOPOLY.com for details and to enter.

The MONOPOLY “Money Makes it Real” contest begins July 15, 2010 and entries will be accepted until September 3. Entries are to be limited to 75 words or less and should demonstrate a commitment to the spirit of MONOPOLY, such as travel, home repair or any other activity inspired by the history of the game, the Community Chest and Chance cards, the tokens or the game play.

Once all entries are collected, participants will invite their friends and family to vote for their entry in an attempt to be one of 75 entrants with the most votes.
